Community Garden Week is the first week of April and there are over 70 community-focussed growing projects across Somerset! This is the fifth year of updating our map and it’s encouraging to see the increasing spread of projects across the county.
Each year we hear about new and emerging projects, projects getting more established, as well as deep-rooted projects that are growing from strength to strength.
Overall, it feels like a wider and stronger patchwork of community-focused farms, gardens, fields, allotments and orchards. The benefits are clear – to people’s health, wellbeing and resilience, as well as the benefits to our environs with projects encouraging nature protection and regeneration.
